At last 6th Pay commission for Government employees is a reality and will be effective 1.1.2007 and not 1.1.2006 as it should be.All the employees are likely to get the multiplication factor of 2.5 of their basic scale of pay excluding the Dearness pay and its much lower than 3.24 it used to be in all the prevoiuos pay commissions.
The salary of Government employees cannot be more than of President of India.As President salary is fixed at Rs1 Lac(Rs50000 earlier w.e.f.1.1.1996),Vice President Rs85000(Rs40000),Governor Rs75000(Rs36000 earlier).Considering the above salary revision approved by Cabinet yesterday 10.1.2008,its most likly that the maximum salary possible for Cabinet Secretary is Rs 65000 (or)Rs70000.( The salary details of Leiutnent Governor is not announced upto now).The ratio of Lowest scale of pay to the highest scale of Pay may be made likely to be at 10. So its most likely and probable that the lowest Scale of Pay will be Rs 6500-175-8250 and Cabinet Secretary Rs 65000-70000(Fixed).All the existing scales will have same progression at 2.5 times except few merger and abolishing.However performance linked incentive may be more this time and it may form atleast 25% component of the take home salary.
